Clément Sordet will look to make history when he tees it up in this week's Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A.
The Frenchman triumphed at the 2017 Challenge Tour Grand Final in Oman, subsequently finishing second on the Rankings to earn promotion to the DP World Tour, and he is now looking to become the first player to win the event twice.
Sordet played primarily on the DP World Tour between 2018 and 2021 but returned to the Challenge Tour this season and won his fifth Challenge Tour title at the SDC Open at the start of the year. The 30-year-old arrives at Club de Golf Alcanada in 12th position on the Road to Mallorca Rankings looking to secure a return to the top tier.
Sordet is in a good position to achieve graduation for a second time in his career, but he will not be looking at the permutations as he looks to make history in Mallorca.
“I’m not going to look at the leaderboard or the Rankings, especially the projected Rankings, because I know if I play my game and stick to the process I will finish inside the top 20," he said.
“This year I have played so many tournaments but I have really enjoyed the travel and I’m really enjoying my life right now.
“I can make history this week by becoming the first player to win the Challenge Tour Grand Final twice and I will do the best I can to make that happen.
"When I won five years ago in Oman I was 11th in the Rankings and I needed a good win because only the top 15 got their cards back then. I eventually won the Grand Final and finished second on the Rankings so I was the happiest man in the world.

“This week the course is definitely suited to me because you have to hit a lot of wedges which is the best part of my game.
"The fairways are tight and the greens are tricky because they are really quick so I will need to be at the top of my game.

The Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final is the 28th and final event on the Road to Mallorca, a season which has featured 16 different countries, where the top 45 players on the Rankings will battle it out for one of the 20 coveted DP World Tour cards.
The 27th edition of the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final, which has been the season-ending event since 1995, will be broadcasted live around the world for the first time in the Tour’s history.
The season finale gets under way on Thursday November 3 with Sordet teeing it up alongside countryman Robin Sciot-Siegrist and Norwegian Kristian Krogh Johannessen at 11:24am local time.
