Marcel Siem says he will be “back to full strength soon” after undergoing surgery on a lingering hip injury.
The German enjoyed a fine 2023 campaign on the DP World Tour, winning his fifth DP World Tour title – and first in eight years – at the Hero Indian Open.
But he played through the pain barrier towards the end of last season, revealing the discomfort he was experiencing at DP World Tour Championship made for “one of my hardest days ever on the golf course.”
Siem has made four appearances in the Middle East during the ongoing International Swing but will now be absent from competitive action for an unspecified period.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Siem said: “I have undergone a little surgery on my hip. This was an injury I carried around with me for quite some time, since it was never the “right” time to get it fully fixed.
“Now, as I was planning to skip the next couple of weeks anyways it was the “right” time to take care of this.
“Everything is developing very well and thanks to the amazing work of Klinik am Isarpark as well as @afmedical_arturfrank I will be back to full strength soon!”
