Golfers take on the world’s longest zipline in Ras Al Khaimah

Ahead of the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, Nick Bachem and Todd Clements took on the Jais Flight, the world’s longest zipline at Jebel Jais, in front of a stunning backdrop.

Both players, in their rookie DP World Tour seasons, relished the opportunity to unwind away from the golf course and experience some of the activities on offer at the Jebel Jais adventure park. Top of the list was the hair-raising Jais Flight – flying through mountain peaks and deep ravines at speeds of up to 160 kmph for 3km.

Located at the Jebel Jais peak in Ras Al Khaimah, around one hour from Al Hamra Golf Club, the venue of this week’s Ras Al Khaimah Championship, the zipline lasts around three minutes and took the players across deep ravines, canyons and through jagged peaks that lie 1680 metres above sea level. After this, they took on the 40 km/h sled track, swerving through glorious panoramas with views of the spectacular coastline.

Clements finished in 16th place on the 2022 Road to Mallorca Rankings to graduate from the European Challenge Tour and earn his DP World Tour card for this season, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience at Jebel Jais.

“It was incredible, in terms of the adrenaline and the pure joy…I loved it," he said. "I recommend anyone to come up here if they are in the area, it wasn’t anything I was expecting and it far exceeded expectations.”

Bachem who finished sixth at the Final Stage of Qualifying School to become one of 28 players to earn their DP World Tour cards for the 2023 season, is already loving life on the main Tour.

“I feel when you travel the whole world it’s such a great chance to see so many different places of the world," he said.

On the Zipline experience, he added: “You definitely feel the emotions and the adrenaline kicking in, you know what’s coming but at the same time you don’t know what to expect. It’s like pure joy, pure emotions going down there, it’s amazing.

"If you’re just always on the golf course, sometimes your happiness depends on the golf course, this should never be the case and trying to enjoy my time as much as possible – pretty hard not to enjoy life being here, standing here and doing fun stuff such as this.

"I’m going to remember this experience here for the rest of the season, it’s pretty hard to beat.”
